The Youth Platform have been working with renowned Street Artist A Dee (aka Artful Dodger) to create a mural that responds to their experiences of living in Peckham. It has now been unveiled as part of the New Cross Art Wall along Queens Road SE14, which also features artwork from local groups such as JOY and Somerville Young People.

The Art Wall aims to celebrate local creativity, improve the community’s urban environment and map New Cross as part of the South East London Arts Corridor that runs from Camberwell to Deptford. As one resident commented: “We can’t wait to see how the Wall impacts on the local area, we hope the people in cars like it too. We want people to know there is a real strong community here in New Cross.”

Vicky Foxcroft, MP cut the ribbon to showcase the Art Wall on Saturday 6 April followed by a day of activities at the playground. The installation centered on the theme of ‘South East London – Past, Present and Future’ with the project made possible through Lottery Awards For All, support of local residents, staff and Trustees of Somerville Youth and Play Provision and Bold Vision.
