NewsWeston Jerwood Creative Bursary - Job Opportunity

We are recruiting a Creative Learning Assistant to help us build an embedded learning offer for the organisation and programme. Part time, 3 days a week.

Closing Date: 9am on Monday 4th December 2017

Peckham Platform will take over a new gallery in the redeveloped Peckham Library Square. Set to open in 2019, our new permanent home will have more space, better facilities and a greatly expanded programme of free cultural events.

Working with local communities to commission artists is central to our social arts practice. Whilst our new home is being built we shall deliver an exciting series of offsite projects across Peckham and South London.

This post will support us in ensuring that creative learning experiences remain integral to each of Peckham Platform’s commissions. You will help us engage our audiences through learning, testing the way our work will be delivered in the new space.

The post-holder will gain an in-depth knowledge of social arts practice both through assisting with and observing the delivery of creative sessions and by researching the organisations, projects and artists key to this growing body of work.

We can offer learning about the range of career opportunities in the arts, specifically within the field of social arts and the skills required to deliver practice within communities with complex social needs. You will directly develop skills, increase confidence & strengthen networks in Peckham and beyond.

You will need to have a passion for arts and education, an interest in learning about socially engaged practice and be willing to contribute to developing provision for diverse and challenged communities to actively engage with art practice.

The post is offered as part of the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries programme. In order to be eligible applicants must:

• Have graduated from a first degree (BA or equivalent) in any subject within the past two years (i.e. in 2015, 2016 or 2017). No minimum grade required.

• Have received a full maintenance grant during the full period of their course and be able to verify it with the necessary paperwork.

• Be a full-time UK resident.

All applicants will need to complete the WJCB survey before completing the application form
