Young people and children are integral to our work. We see it as their right to be active participants and play an active part in creating the narrative of our activities and new gallery due to open in 2025, as well being a part of creating the future of Southwark and Peckham.

Embedded in our projects and exhibitions we provide a range of activities for young people and children of all ages to learn, participate and engage with our programme.

Our learning offer currently consists of delivering Art Awards with local schools, and our Youth Platform for young people aged 16-22.

Schools

What we’re building for schools at our new home

A creative space for learning, growth, wellbeing and community

Peckham Platform’s new home on Peckham Square will be a dedicated space for schools to engage with creativity, culture, and community. We are developing our new learning programme that places social art at the heart of education – supporting students, teachers, and schools to thrive through imaginative, inclusive experiences.

Whilst we build our new home we offer:

Arts Awards

We offer schools and students the chance to achieve nationally recognised qualifications through their participation in our creative programmes. From Discover to Bronze level, we support schools and young people to explore the arts, develop new skills, and reflect on their creative journeys. Delivered in partnership with artists and educators, our Arts Award offer is embedded into workshops and long-term projects, giving students a tangible sense of achievement and boosting their confidence and progression in the arts.

Our future schools programme will offer:

Curriculum-linked creative workshops

In our purpose-built learning spaces, we will deliver hands-on workshops that link directly to the national curriculum across subjects like art, history, science, and geography. Sessions will draw on Peckham’s rich heritage and culture, offering students meaningful, locally rooted learning.

Artist-led projects for students

Students will have opportunities to co-create projects with professional artists, developing work that can be shared in public exhibitions, performances and events. These projects are designed to build ownership, pride, new skills over time and celebrate young peoples creative work and ideas.

Bespoke school partnerships

Our new space will support deep, ongoing partnerships with schools. We will co-design tailored programmes that respond to your school’s specific needs, including options for free or subsidised access for schools with limited arts provision.

A platform to celebrate student work

Our new venue will be a home for student creativity. Schools will be invited to use our galleries and event spaces to host student exhibitions, creative showcases, and celebration events – making young people’s achievements visible and valued.

Creative support for wellbeing

Our learning programme will place student wellbeing at its core. We will provide safe, supportive spaces where creativity helps build confidence, resilience, and emotional literacy – empowering young people to express themselves and connect with their community.

Teacher training and CPD

We aim to offer continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for educators, sharing creative teaching techniques and strategies for embedding art-based approaches into the classroom – building confidence, creativity, and connection.

A space for creativity, culture, and change

Peckham Platform’s new home will be a centre for inclusive, creative learning. We’re excited to work with schools to shape a new chapter of cultural education in Peckham – one where every student has access to inspiring opportunities to learn, grow, and belong.

We’d love to collaborate – get in touch to meet our team.

  • “...really good for their mental health... It got us working as a team again.. it was really good to do an activity and realise that you learn as well from making mistakes and that actually you discover something new”

  • “The curriculum is so fixed and we realised that the process of making is so calming. It was nice to get messy and get our hands dirty.”

  • “Because we were doing Arts Award it validated us being able to do Art. It legitamised it because we were working with Peckham Platform."

  • Art always gets cut back and during Covid it really got put on the back burner. This Arts Award meant that we could do it and get a qualification for them as well. It was no longer seen as indulgent and frivolous”

  • “This is an extra dimension for the students to talk about and it extends their creative ideas. This opportunity to achieve an Arts Award also helps us participate local community art.”
