Marc Bauer

Artists

The themes in Marc Bauer’s work vary from migration, identity and gender, sexuality and patriarchy. He is best known for his black and white drawings that range in scale from small works on paper to enormous wall drawings.

Born in Geneva, Bauer is shown internationally, including Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Zurich, Switzerland, Centre Pompidou, Paris, France, and The Drawing Room, London, UK.

In 2017 Peckham Platform, in a partnership with Frieze Projects London, commissioned Bauer to work with members of its youth programme. Youth Platform x Marc Bauer developed through a series of workshops exploring the complex relationship between personal identity, gender politics and place.

The results of the project transformed an empty shop front in the Aylesham Centre, the shopping centre in Peckham, with a multimedia installation including video, moving image and a wall to ceiling collage.

Inspired by his time with the group Bauer created an extensive wall drawing to occupy the Frieze fair’s entrance corridor. The wall drawing was part of Frieze Projects, the non-profit programme of new artist commissions at Frieze London.
