Meera Shakti Osborne, Sun Shines in the Ends

Artist and youth worker Meera Shakti Osborne collaborated with teenagers from Inspire Walworth to create a thoughtful and hopeful installation at Peckham’s Sky Shopping City.

In collaboration with the South London Refugee Association, artist, poet, and visual storyteller Tyreis Holder facilitated workshops with young people to create a vibrant artwork now on display at Peckham Rye Market.

We invite all who identify as women of Peckham – whether rooted here, raised here, or connected by memory and spirit – to co-create the next chapter of Memories for the Future. Join us in recording your oral histories with a facilitator, where we’ll dive into the richness of your lived experiences and personal reflections.

On Saturday 22 March 2025 we ran a family-friendly day packed with exciting activities and creative experiences for all ages including an artist-led looming workshop with Zethu Maseko. This free event was part of our ongoing Memories for the Future programme, exploring community stories, creativity and shared experiences.

Memories for the Future is a hyperlocal community-led programme that researches and responds to the intangible heritage of the people who shaped Peckham’s iconic Rye Lane.

Rye Lane Reconnected

2023-2024

Rye Lane Reconnected, a community-led initiative, collaborated with social artists, residents, and community groups to commission artworks for Peckham’s Rye Lane.

2024

London-based art practitioner Meera Shakti Osborne hosted workshops at Inspire Walworth, exploring the significance of participants’ neighbourhoods through writing, image-making, and discussion. Participants rediscovered creativity, comfort, and fun while reflecting on what made where they live special.
